1. Take a look at your boot messages with

# dmesg | grep ipw

ipw2200: Detected geography ZZM (11 802.11bg channels, 0 802.11a channels)

2. If you can see something similar like the above standing,
   download the firmware from

	http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php

3. After downloading an decompress the firmware file known as

	ipw2200-fw-3.1.tgz

4. Copy the files to 

	/lib/firmware

5. Restart the computer
